Choose from one of the classes listed or call to design your own. Learn basic techniques such as hammering, cutting, filing, soldering, making a bezel and setting stones. Fabrication projects include rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Classes are tailored to your level of experience.

INTRODUCTION TO SOLDERING

In this two session class, students learn the basics of soldering.

Students will learn to use an oxy-propane soldering torch and learn to clean, match and solder a joint. Demonstrations will include several styles of soldering, soldering tips and torch safety. This class focuses on learning the basics and not on the completion of a specific project.

Class fee includes all materials. This class is $215 for an individual and $195 for "register with a friend".

BASIC BENCH TECHNIQUES

This three session class will focus on proper use of hand tools and basic bench techniques including layout, design, drilling, piercing, sawing, filing and soldering. Each student will complete a project to take home.

Demonstrations on the use of tools will be given in steps along the way to the completion of a final project.

STONE SETTING FUNDAMENTALS

This three session learn to bezel, tube, flush and prong-set stones. Each session will begin with a demonstration after each student will have a chance to work independently. This focus of this class is on technique development and not on completing a finished piece, however students may bring a project "in process" to work on.

Class fee includes copper, brass, stones and settings. Individual $325, "Register with a Friend" $295. Students should have basic soldering skills before registering for this workshop

RING CLASS

In this three session class, students will learn to solder & make a ring.

Session one will focus on sizing, layout, measuring, & cutting the band, adding texture, filing and forming. Session two, on soldering & polishing. Session three will focus on making a bezel & setting a stone.

Fee includes silver for one ring and a stone. Additional materials will be available for purchase. Individual $325, "Register with a Friend" $295

EARRING CLASS

This three-session class will act as an introduction to the vast topic of earring design and fabrication.

Demonstrations will be given the first part of each session, after students will have time to work independently. Bring a sketchbook to keep track of notes and ideas.

BRACELET CLASS

This three session class will focus on designing and making a variety of bracelets from the simple cuff and bangle to the fold formed variations.

We will explore a variety of techniques such as roller-printing, hammer patterning, fusing and forging. Each session will begin with a demonstration and then students will will have time to work independently. Bring a sketchbook to keep track of notes and ideas.

Workshops are designed for adults and mature teenagers. Students 15 -18 years old will be permitted to register with parental permission and a waiver. Children ages 12 to 15 may register with a parent or guardian under “register with a friend” classes.

Workshop size will be limited to 2 students.
